Information You Send
If a visitor uses a contact channel, the message, email address, and details volunteered in it may be received. Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank information, identity documents, or other sensitive data. A contact message is used only to read, respond to, or address the request.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most websites, the host or service providers may record limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, pages viewed, and time of access. This information helps keep the service working, diagnose abuse, and understand general traffic. It is not used to construct a resident profile.
How Information Is Used
Any limited information collected is used for site operation, security, response to messages, and improvement of the reference service. It is not sold as a list of visitors. We do not use it to make decisions about a person or to publish a person’s private information.
Outside Links
Links lead to Forsyth County, North Carolina, library, court, archive, and other independent websites. Those services control their own collection and privacy practices. Review the policy and notices of each external service before submitting a search, form, or payment.
When Data Is Shared
Information may be disclosed only to vendors that help operate the service, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and service security. Vendors may use the information only to provide their service. We do not share data for unrelated marketing.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the small amount of information handled here. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed secure. Avoid sending sensitive personal data through an ordinary contact message, and contact the official records custodian directly for a certified or restricted record.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may ask for review or deletion through the Contact page.
Your Privacy Choices
Visitors may ask what personal information has been retained in a contact mailbox or request correction or deletion where feasible. North Carolina has no broad omnibus consumer-privacy statute identified for this project; relevant protections are sector-specific, including North Carolina Public Records Law, N.C.G.S. Chapter 132, voter confidentiality under N.C.G.S. § 163-82.10, vital-record limits in N.C.G.S. §§ 130A-93 and 130A-99, and the Address Confidentiality Program in Chapter 15C. Requests about government records must go to their custodian, not this private reference.
Policy Changes
This policy may change when the service, law, or operating practices change. The current version is posted here. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
